A stunning Laura Appelman polymer clay beaded necklace with Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, and a sterling silver clasp.
Very long at 36", wear it long or you can wear it doubled up for a lush bejeweled look!
Having come to polymer clay jewelry design as both a figurative and abstract painter, she finds this new work brings into play her love of abstract shapes, the power of both subtle and dramatic shading, combined with the dynamism of matte and pearlized colored clay.
Each bead's veneer is the result of a complicated artistic process that relies on refined techniques and myriad steps--clay conditioning, color-mixing, slicing and rolling, layering and baking. Laura creates the silky surface of each bead by hand-sanding each disk with up to 6 increasingly refined grades of sandpaper. She strings each neckpiece with selections of semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystal beads, fire-polished Czech beads and sterling silver beads and rondeles. Most clasps are created by the artist and all are sterling silver.
