Gorgeous sterling silver and rock crystal bracelet from the 1970s by Danish designer Niels Erik From!
The bracelet consists of a wide sterling silver band that tapers towards the crown.
The band itself is thoughtfully designed being gently curved across the face to mold comfortably to the arm. The band has flex at the opening to help with putting the bracelet on. The round brilliant cut rock crystal captures light beautifully!
This piece, like all pieces out of the From workshop, is beautifully crafted. In excellent vintage condition with very light marks consistent with age and wear. There is no damage to the stone or scratches to its surface. The bracelet has been lightly cleaned with a silver cloth.
The bracelet measures 6.5" around the inside. The opening of the band without the crown is 5/8", unflexed. The width of the band measures 2/8" to 5/8" at its widest point. The crown has a diameter of 7/8" in diameter and measures .5" high.
The bracelet is stamped on the inside of the band: STERLING, DENMARK, NE FROM and 925S for 925/1000 parts silver purity (sterling silver).
The bracelet weighs 40 grams.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Niels Erik From (b. 1908 - 1982) trained as a silversmith establishing his own workshop in 1944 in Nakskov, Denmark. The design of his early works exhibited Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) and Arts and Crafts or Skønvirke influences with semi-precious stones set in decorative mounts exhibiting floral motifs. From the 1950s onwards the workshop began designing and fabricating modernist works, still using silver and semi-precious stones but exhibiting bold geometries and minimalist settings. In 1960, From's son-in-law, Hilmer Jensen, joined the firm, taking over from Niels Erik on his death. The company ceased production in the early 1990s. From's work is of exceptional quality and is highly collectible.
